At Chatsworth Hills Academy, our International Baccalaureate faculty strives to be the best teachers they can possibly be for your young scholars! Being an IB teacher at CHA means we have to become a jack of all trades: planning meaningful lesson-plans, managing a classroom full of children, and ensuring that your children’s minds are intellectually enriched are just some of the elements of teaching that we have to master in order to be successful at our jobs!
Aside from aiding in your child’s intellectual development, our entire faculty at Chatsworth Hills Academy aims to build a rapport with all of our students’ parents, generating strong parent/teacher relationships while creating a “let’s work together” atmosphere for the most successful education possible. At CHA, we have developed five different techniques that ensure strong connections with all of our students’ parents, making certain that their voices are heard throughout the entirety of the school year!
Five Ways CHA Fosters The Strongest Parent/Teacher Relationships Possible
Establishing Welcoming Relationships From The Get-Go
Whether it’s “Back to School Night,” or a “Meet the Teacher” event, establishing a warm and welcoming relationship from the start is critically important for us! At CHA, our faculty makes sure to take these opportunities to greet each parent with a friendly smile, while beginning to connect names and faces. When meeting our students’ parents, we hope to gain valuable insight into the best ways to approach individual educational needs, as well as strengthening parent/teacher connections that are crucial for a student’s success!
Providing Weekly Newsletters
Children are notorious for saying that they did “nothing” when parents ask what they learned at Chatsworth Hills Academy each day. On behalf of our entire faculty, this hurts our hearts! Each day we’re encouraging our students to learn and grow, providing our students with an internationally-minded education that allows them to recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship of our beautiful planet. Since students don’t always share what we’re really doing in the classroom, we provide a weekly class newsletter, either via hard copy or online. Offering weekly newsletters is an effective way to let you know what your children are studying on a regular basis!
Communicating Issues Immediately
Rather than waiting to inform parents of any major behavioral or learning difficulties, the Chatsworth Hills Academy faculty believes it’s better to reach out to parents as soon as possible! Our teachers will ask for your help whenever possible and will work on finding productive solutions together. When our teacher and the parents of our students work together as partners, we’re much more effective in instilling a positive behavioral change!
Celebrating Your Child’s Accomplishments
At CHA, any time we can make a phone call or send a quick note to a parent about something wonderful their child has done, we do! Our faculty members truly care about your child’s intellectual well-being and progression, and we want you to be an integral part of their spectacular accomplishments. When we offer positive feedback about our students to their parents, we strengthen parent/teacher bonds by showing that we are considerate of your child’s educational journey!
Including You In Classroom Activities
Whenever possible, our staff at Chatsworth Hills Academy will invite parents to help in the classroom, giving them a true understanding of our IB curriculum! In addition to having parents work with small groups or one-on-one with their own child, we love for parents to visit us when we’re doing something extra interesting or fun! Science experiments, math olympics, and special art projects are just a few of some of the amazing activities your child partakes in at CHA. Having parents join us in the classroom allows for meaningful connections to blossom, and gets your child excited to show you his or her accomplishments in a hands-on environment.
