CHA welcomed back graduates from the past four years to celebrate our current 8th grade class as they move on to high school and the Seniors that will be heading to college in the fall. It is an annual event that reunites friends, teachers and community.
Students were joyful greeting each other again. Lots of questions were asked, “Where are you going to high school?” “Where are you going to college?” “How tall are you?” Teachers were happy to reconnect with former students. Even though some attended last year’s reunion, it’s surprising how much they have grown. Those that weren’t able to attend were missed.
Everyone enjoyed the taco bar as they shared memories of their experience at CHA. Our 8th grade students told us what high school they will be attending and their favorite memory about CHA. Friendships, sports and taking care of each other topped the list.
The graduating seniors announced where they are going to college and shared some advice to those starting high school. “Make friends.” “Go to football games, dances, have a good time. Get involved.” “Don’t wait til the last minute to start a project.” Wise words.
Then they all ran to the sports court for friendly games of basketball, volleyball and soccer. At the end of the night everyone went home feeling happy and reconnected. One student commented, “It was nice to see everyone again. It felt natural to be back together. It’s like we never left.”
Remember, you are welcome back anytime.
