When choosing a secondary school, it’s important to find the right fit for each student. CHA is an active partner in helping families identify and apply to programs that best meet their needs. At the beginning of the eighth grade year, the Head of Middle School meets with each student and his/her parents to discuss the application process for high school and to advise the family about secondary school options. Together, they explore a variety of schools in order to find the best environment and education for the student. Once potential schools have been identified, each student and family is individually guided through the entire process, including campus visits, interviews, resume writing, applications, and entrance exams. Admissions representatives from top area high schools visit CHA and offer lunchtime presentations and discussions for the eighth grade students.
CHA not only guides the student and family, but is an active advocate for the student throughout the high school placement process. The Head of Middle School communicates regularly with the secondary schools, staying updated on the admissions process while sharing and discussing the attributes of each CHA applicant. This thoughtful, cooperative, and successful effort has resulted in CHA graduates enjoying an unusually high and consistent rate of acceptance at very selective secondary schools.
Following graduation, the school’s Secondary Alumni Liaison remains in contact with alumni through return visits to the campus, email, and alumni events. Through this ongoing communication, CHA gains information from our graduates regarding their high school experiences, which provides additional insight for students beginning the high school placement process.
