Teacher, Artist, Mom, Wife…that’s Emily Stuver in a nutshell. She loves art, teaching and learning with kids. In fact, she’s one of those lucky people whose career matches her passions. A California native, an alumna of U.C. Santa Cruz (in Fine Art, emphasis in painting and ceramic sculpture), Studio Art Centers International (art school in Florence, Italy), a Cal State Long Beach Ceramics graduate student and receiver of a Master’s degree in Education, multiple subject and single subject (art) credentials from U.C.L.A.; she is certainly a lifelong learner. Emily has taught 3rd and 4th grades at Community Magnet School right out of graduate school until her first child was born. Once home with her children, she created a business: Creative Learning Plans, where she created and taught specialized learning plans in all subjects for students preK through 8th grade to fill in gaps experienced in their learning. She re-entered the school scene as an Artist in Residence, creating a Totem Pole in Totem Row at an LAUSD school. Mrs. Stuver taught art part-time at Community Magnet and CHIME Charter, two high performing schools that taught her many different ways to reach children through the power of art. Art has always been a thread sewn throughout the different phases in her teaching career and she’s thrilled to have found her home in a full time teaching position on C.H.A.’s beautiful campus creating with everyone 2 years old to 14! What a joy!
