You have finished your research, discovered the academic advantages and chosen Los Angeles’s premier private school, Chatsworth Hills Academy, for your child. You may not realize it, but your job is not finished yet. Once you become part of the CHA family, we strongly encourage you to join our parents’ group – the PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization). Here are our top five reasons to get involved:
1. Benefits Your Child Academically.
There is unending research that shows the correlation between parental involvement in school and student success. Students whose parents are involved with their education perform better on classroom and standardized test. They get higher scores on their report cards and their grade point average is higher than students whose parents are not involved in their school. They are also more likely to pass their classes, be promoted to the next grade and take more challenging, higher-level courses. And it doesn’t stop there. Students whose parents are involved with their education are also more likely to graduate and go on to postsecondary education.
2. Benefits Your Child Socially.
Besides the clear academic benefits of being involved with your child’s school, the research also points to positive social and emotional benefits. Students with involved parents have better social skills, show improved behavior both at school and at home and appear to adapt more easily to school. This likely leads to the fact that students with involved parents also have better school attendance (which likely helps with the academics as well.)
3. Exciting Activities.
At CHA, our administrators, teachers and our PTSO members plan several events throughout the year. You won’t want to miss these opportunities to be on our Los Angeles campus, see what your child is learning and celebrate their successes. Your attendance at events shows your child the importance you place on academics and helps support their learning and extracurricular activities. The school calendar is always up-to-date and full of parent opportunities including:
- Back to School Coffee
- Movie Night
- The Parent Social
- The Fall Festival
- Monthly Treat Sales
- Other social events throughout the year
4. CHA Needs You.
At Chatsworth Hills, we believe that our school is only as successful as our ENTIRE community – and that means administrators, teachers, students AND parents. So many things that CHA accomplishes are done on a volunteer basis by parents and staff. We want your input to help guide and carry out the philosophy and vision of our school and create a culture of caring, dedication and academic success. Our teachers focus on educating your student and need your support to help make learning fun, celebrate special occasions, and create lasting memories for our students of their time at Chatsworth Hills Academy.
5. It’s FUN!
Being a part of the CHA PTSO can be great fun! They meet once a month at the school to discuss business and socialize with other parents. The events provide more opportunities to get to know other parents and for your children to get to know others outside of the classroom. Oftentimes, parents extend their acquaintances by getting together at Los Angeles restaurants, museums and scheduling play dates for the children at their homes. Our parents, teachers and students create lasting friendships on the PTSO that carry on even after their students have left our educational haven.
Take advantage of all Chatsworth Hills Academy has to offer both your child AND you! Join the Chatsworth Hills PTSO by attending the next meeting.
